Yaron Ayalonmy book I am an Assistant Professor of History at Ball State University in Muncie,  IN,  and the Associate Director of the Jewish Studies Program.  A historian of Jews of the Muslim world,  the Middle East,  and the Ottoman Empire (among other things),  I’m the author of Natural Disasters in the Ottoman Empire:  Plague,  Famine,  and Other Misfortunes (Cambridge University Press, 2015;  look inside and buy it here). At my university,  I serve as the Vice Chair of the Faculty Council,   the representative body of all faculty on campus.  I am a member of several university committees,  and chair our university’s Financial and Budgetary Affairs Committee, which oversees our university’s budget.

I also maintain an online writing guide for students.

Previously,  I taught as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma and Emory University.
