Welcome to my website

 

Yaron Ayalonmy book I am an Assistant Professor of History at Ball State University in Muncie, IN, and a historian of the Middle East, Ottoman Empire, and Jews of the Muslim world (among other things).  I’m the author of Natural Disasters in the Ottoman Empire: Plague, Famine, and Other Misfortunes, forthcoming with Cambridge University Press.

I also maintain an online writing guide for students, and a website for students to ask questions and get advice on college, career, and life questions.

Previously, I taught as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma and Emory University.

As part of my new project Five Hundred Words I hold weekly conversations with my students about career, professional, and social issues. All conversations are videotaped and placed on the website, and there’s a question and answer section on the Facebook page.
